We could not resist the good fares on the cruises to Alaska. So we went to Alaska via the cruise ship starting out in Vancouver. We were lucky to go the week that the weather was awesome in the high 70's. We thought we were on s ship in Mexico or something, people were on the decks in swim suits.

Our first stop is Ketchikan. where we walked around town enjoying the weather. Our second stop was Juneau where we took the lawn moving tour. We spent the day at my mother's doing little chores and had a picnic with family and friends. It was so hot we had to keep seek out the shade, it was wonderful!
Skagway was our last town to stop in. We were going to rent a car and drive up to Whitehorse but there were 4 ships in town that day so no rental cars to be had. We heard that Lois Graves a good friend of my mother was in Skagway for a few days. We found her and spent the day with her. We drove her up the highway out of Skagway and to Dyea. Had a nice lunch together in town before heading back to our ship. I was so hot I took a dip into one of the ships 4 pools.
Ship in Skagway taken at the outlook on the Dyea road.
Seals on ice as we entered Glacier Bay.

We got off the ship in Whittier. The A frame is the opening to the tunnel. Whittier is a small town, mostly a port for cargo headed to Anchorage. You have to go through a 2 mile tunnel to get to the highway. The tunnel is just wide enough for the train. A few years ago they made the tunnel to be useable for cars also. It is only a one way tunnel so you have to wait for the tunnel to open for your direction. It was interesting to see the town and to go through the tunnel. We enjoyed the cruise it was a great way to go to Alaska!

Sounds like fun. I would like to take a cruise up there some time. I'd like to do it before we are in our 50's but that just might be how long we have to wait! :) Glad you had such nice weather!
Ah.. there they are. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Glad you guys had such a nice time. Love you! look forward to seeing you this weekend. Seems like it has been so long! What, like 2 weeks? :)
The pictures are great. Enjoyed seeing Stan and Terri, and Jon & Jonni. Carol
When did you move from Alaska? I'm certainly out of the loop. Of course keeping up with me is no easy task. I'm back in Cape Canaveral, FL, just waiting for you to visit for a quick thaw! Your pictures are beautiful, as are both of you!
love, Mel
